Biografia artista: Francesca Leone nasce a Roma nel 1964 da una famiglia di artisti: suo padre è il regista Sergio Leone e sua madre Carla Ranaldi, prima ballerina del Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Dopo aver seguito il corso di scenografia all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, si dedica interamente alla pittura.
Inizia la sua attività espositiva nel 2007 con una mostra ai Musei Capitolini, alla quale segue la sua prima personale al Loggiato di San Bartolomeo di Palermo nel 2008. Alla fine dello stesso anno Palazzo Venezia a Roma le dedica una mostra personale dal titolo "Primo Piano", che sarà poi replicata a Castel dell’Ovo a Napoli. Successivamente è invitata ad esporre al Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (MMOMA) di Mosca e viene nominata membro onorario dell’Accademia Russa delle Belle Arti.
Partecipa alla Biennale di Venezia nel 2011 e nel 2013. Nel 2014 è protagonista di tre personali al Museo di Arte Contemporanea (MAC) di Santiago del Cile, al Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Buenos Aires (MACBA) e al Museo dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di San Pietroburgo. Nello stesso anno è presente al Palazzo delle Arti (PAN) di Napoli con la mostra "Corpo Terra". Il 2015 si apre con una mostra personale a Singapore e si chiude con la monumentale esposizione “Our Trash” a La Triennale di Milano. Nel 2017 presenta “Giardino” al Museo Macro di Roma e nel 2018 torna dopo dieci anni a Palermo, che è capitale della cultura europea, ed espone “Monaci” al Real Albergo dei Poveri durante la Biennale d'Arte Manifesta 12.
Ad oggi vive e lavora tra Roma e Miami.
